The National Australian Built Environment Rating System (NABERS) is a voluntary rating system that measures an existing building’s operational environmental performance against a set of key categories. NABERS is a national initiative managed by the NSW Government’s Department of Environment and Climate Change and Water (DECCW).
NABERS benchmarks the environmental performance of office buildings, hotels and shopping centres by awarding a star rating on a scale of one to five. NABERS can separately rate tenancies and base buildings (central services), or the combination of both in whole buildings, in the following areas:
- Energy
- Indoor Environment
- Waste
- Water (whole buildings only)
For additional information, please visit the NABERS website.
